Five of my favorite things this week from my Pinterest pinnings...

_
This picture...It's astronauts.  It's a family.  It's an astronaut family.
Is this what families are going to look like when we all migrate to the moon?  Kinda cool.

Happy Halloween // Painted Pumpkins (love the rhinestone silver guy in the back)
We're waiting for a bit longer until we get ours still, but I've been thinking about decorating pumpkins lately.
I'm dying to paint some black and white ones this year.  I really like how these ones are hipped up with all of the embellishments.  Who knows?  Maybe I'll decide to take it up a notch and do the same thing.

Bedroom
This room is just so bright and cheerful...I'm sure it could make anyone feel better after a long hard day out in the trenches.

Be Happy
For you.  For me.  For everyone.  Just a not-so-subtle reminder that happiness is a choice.

Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting
The perfect taste of fall...Get in my belly!

Happy Friday, All...Julie

Here's just a few of the things that I'm finding myself into this week...

This magazine...Domino is my all-time favorite.  As many of you other design geeks out there know, it was sadly put to rest a few years ago.  But the word on the street (according to the domino magazine instagram feed a couple of days ago) is that it's coming back for good as a quarterly mag.  Stay tuned.

This book...Yes, I've already seen the film.  And, yes, I loved it.  That's why I decided to immerse myself in the story long-term.  The book is turning out to be a bit different than the flick, too, so it's well worth the read.  You should read it, too.

Rain
pinned here
The rain...There, I said it.  The rain is actually kind of one of my favorite things this week.  That might sound kind of odd coming from a girl who lives in the perpetually rainy state of Washington.  But guess what.  It's been a long gorgeous sunny summer here.  And summer is always busy.  I'm ready to snuggle in and relax indoors while the rain gently pitter patters outdoors.  The thunder and lightning that we experienced last night is actually kind of cool, too.  I'm sure I will be singing a completely different tune in a couple of months, though.  Be prepared for my inevitable future moanings and groanings of how the rain never quits.  It will most definitely happen.

pumpkin magic bars
This recipe...It's got the words "pumpkin" and "magic" in it.  What could be better?  As the afore-mentioned rain has begun to set in around these parts, it's got me thinking about Autumn and Autumn means the Fall harvest and the Fall Harvest means pumpkin.  This recipe looks like it has pumpkin AND coconut in it.  PUMPKIN AND COCONUT.  Enough said.  Must try it.

These ladies and their Instagram feeds...Brandi (@BuenoBrandi) and Kelly (@Iheartbueno) of Mucho Mucho Bueno Bueno.  Besides having a great blog and their own jewelry line, they both have quite the knack for cool photography and always seem to capture some of the most innovative shots.  Their approach to life is fresh, young, fun and adventurous and I totally dig the amazing way they manage to portray that through their instagram photos.  These girls really know how to live.

This necklace by Moorea Seal.  You can find it here.  Truth be told, I don't really wear a lot of jewelry.  But truth also be told, I don't have much money to spend on jewelry nor do I currently have the kind of lifestyle that can afford to wear such outfits that require super hip modern jewelry like this.  But if I was living my ideal truth, I would totally have this necklace.  I'm really into the modern geometry style right now.

That's about it for now.  What are you into this week?

ice cream sandwich dreams

I've been noticing via Pinterest lately that ice cream sandwiches are kind of a new old thing.  Yes, I've certainly had my experience with them in the past, but they were always of the out-of-the-box-in-the-freezer variety.  Nowadays, they're a completely different animal altogether.
Just look at these and swear to me that your mouth isn't watering.

Donut Ice Cream Sandwiches
Donuts, people.  Donuts.  Who'd have thunk it?

Some of my favorite edibles.  All combined into a thing of pure beauty.  Who could resist?

Smores ice cream sandwiches
The s'more has evolved.  In a very delicious way.

Best ice cream sandwiches
If trail mix is involved, it must be healthy.  Right?

Chocolate Stout Ice Cream Sandwich
I'm all in when it comes to a sweet and salty mix.  Score.

Have you had any amazing ice cream sandwich encounters lately that you'd like to share? Please do!

cheers, Julie

this quote by stephen hawking pinned from here.
Yes, I've read "A Brief History of Time" and, needless to say, it floored me.  I wouldn't say that Stephen Hawking is an idol of mine, but his brilliance can't be disputed.  This quote of his really resonates with me.

this song "purple yellow red & blue" by portugal the man.
It's dark.  It's moody.  But you can still dance to it.  I'm into it.

my boyfriend's birthday is next week and I've been slowly plotting,  I mean planning, his birthday dinner.  He's an insane peanut butter junkie, so I was thinking of making him a chocolate peanut butter cake or something similar.  These yummy-looking cupcakes just might do the trick.
Lizzy always makes the best stuff.

this book.
I know.  It's a kids' book.  And I'm thirty-something.  But I went to the library this week to pick up some books for the kiddos and this is one of the ones I found there.  Needless to say, it's a childhood favorite of mine and I couldn't resist the urge to steal it and read it myself.

this show.
Have you seen it yet?  It's good.  Really good.  It's one of those shocking, surprising, you never really know what's going to happen type of shows.  But it's also about women.  In prison.  And why they're there.  And what amazing people they can be, even in prison.  Like I said, it's really good and I highly recommend it.  Just finished watching Season 1 and can't wait until Season 2 comes out.
Unfortunately, that won't be until 2014.  Of course.

As you may or may not know, I'm slightly obsessed with interior design.  It's way too hard for me to pick out one single design inspiration that I like for the whole week, but this is certainly ONE of my favorites.  Indisputably, blue is my favorite color and I absolutely adore the tone of the blue sofa and ottoman pictured here.  I also really love the way the designer continued the line work from the art up and onto the wall.
You can find more of my many interior design inspirations via my Pinterest board here.

So there you have it...some of my favorite things this week.
What have you been enjoying lately?

cheers, Julie

just peachy

It's August (yay!) and even though the summer season is slowly starting to wind down, the sun is still bright and shining and the thermometer is running hot.  And you know what?  Everything is feeling pretty peachy.  So in honor of that, I've decided to celebrate my favorite summer fruit...yep, you guessed it.
This recipe looks pretty much divine in every possible way.  First and foremost, it seems like something that I could do pretty easily without too much time invested.  Plus, it looks totally scrumptious. Obviously.   Just perfect for a warm summer night out on the patio.

And with my beautiful peach pizza, I might also decide to have this lovely peach margarita.  Talk about peach heaven. I don't know, though, too much peach all at once?  Nah. Impossible.

And guess what.  I might also decide to sip my peach margarita with one of these cute striped straws.

Oh, and did I mention how cute I'd look eating my pizza and drinking my margarita while wearing this gorgeous necklace?

And/or this dress?

I might also decide to use this cool iphone (case) to call some friends and invite them to come over to share some of my peachy good eats.

My friends would, of course, be ever-so-impressed with my new art.

And who doesn't want a little more chevron in their life?  This pillow would totally make my life complete.

And there you have it...my ode to the peach.
What kind of fruit have you been indulging in this summer?

cheers, Julie
